A letter and graffiti at the mayor’s home
The investigation concerns several threats made against Christophe Rivenq. On July 16, the mayor received an envelope containing two 9mm bullets. Inscriptions were also discovered on the fence of his house, including the abbreviations « DZ NG » and « CVN, » according to information reported by the prosecutor of Alès.
During the night of July 20-21, the elected official was evacuated from his home. The Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, had mentioned the threat of violent action. According to sources close to the case cited by TF1/LCI, the young man, a butcher by trade, turned himself in at the Alès police station at the end of the week preceding his indictment. Taken into custody, he admitted to having delivered the letter and written the inscriptions.
The National Anti-Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office (Pnaco) indicates that he is under investigation for several offenses, including participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing a crime as part of an organized gang, threats against a public official and unauthorized possession or transport of category B weapons and ammunition. These charges correspond to the prosecution initiated and do not prejudge the outcome of the proceedings.
