In Sofia, Sthélyne Grosy lost in the final of the -60 kg category at the European Senior Championships.
Sthélyne Grosy won the silver medal in the -60 kg category at the European Senior Amateur Championships in Sofia. The Frenchwoman lost in the final to defending champion Kristina Kuluhova after a close match. She was competing in the tournament in a new weight class for elite seniors.
A duel fought until the very last round
The Serbian player, of Russian origin, posed a tough challenge to Grosy. According to national coach Kamel Hasni, Kuluhova notably tried to land powerful shots, which the Frenchwoman often managed to block.
The French plan then consisted of gradually exploiting Grosy’s hand speed, footwork, and timing. The boxer found some solutions in the second round, but the judges awarded it to her opponent by a vote of 4 to 1. After also losing the first round, she had to change her approach in the third and engage more directly.
Hasni described a very close final, without contesting the defeat. He praised his boxer’s performance and her journey in the tournament, where she discovered the -60 kg senior elite category.
A promising new category
The final concluded a competition in which Grosy, according to his coach, displayed high-quality boxing from start to finish. Despite the loss, this appearance in his new weight class allowed him to distinguish himself on the European stage.
The French Boxing Federation’s report on this final was published on September 26, 2026. It does not specify the exact date of the fight.
