A teaching sequence combines dictation, currency discovery, and exploration of Turkey.
The Teachers’ Kit offers a dictation sequence dedicated to money and Turkey, as part of its « Discovering Inventions » learning path. Published on September 2, 2026, this fourth dictation combines spelling practice, grammar concepts, and activities related to history, geography, and the arts.
Progress in six sessions
The sequence begins with a riddle, a reading, and an introduction to the theme. Students then study the words from the dictation, first to discover them, then to memorize them. Resources are provided for teachers and students, including slideshows, worksheets, and digital activities.
Memorization can also be aided through workshops: word searches, board games, and tablet exercises. The resource notably features « OrthoInventions » and « Speed Letters. » The dictation cards are available in several levels, from fill-in-the-blank to a more comprehensive version, allowing students to work with appropriately sized lists.
The following sessions cover noun phrase agreement, proper and common nouns, determiners, and then first-group verbs in the present tense. One session is also devoted to the relationship between subject and verb. Digital activities are suggested to support several of these concepts.
A dictation exercise with several levels
The dictation is offered at three levels. A fill-in-the-blank version is included on the second page of the document; the words to remember are indicated in the written record prepared beforehand. During the correction process, this record can be projected to identify verbs, subjects, nouns, determiners, and adjectives, as well as subject-verb agreement.
The sequence also includes monitoring the results: after the exercise, students record their percentage of success in a histogram in order to visualize their progress over the school year.
Extensions in several subjects
The theme can serve as a starting point for other activities. The Teacher’s Toolkit suggests exploring trade in Antiquity in history, Mediterranean port cities in geography, or fair trade in moral and civic education. In visual arts, the suggested activities focus on the reliefs and engravings of coins, as well as the design of current currency. Metals are also mentioned for further exploration in science.
Copy rallies and four riddles about Turkey and inventions are also planned. A shared space is available for teachers who wish to upload documents or new lesson plans.
