Artia13 News Editorial Charter

1. Who are we?
Artia13 Actualité is an online news outlet published by a non-profit association (governed by the French law of 1901). INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY (ARTIA13), whose headquarters are located in Arles (France).
Our mission is to provide information:

based on facts, verifiable and contextualized;

independent of any political party, any government and any private interest;

accessible to the widest possible audience, with particular attention to media literacy and the fight against disinformation.
This charter applies to all content published on artia13.city, on our social media accounts and, where applicable, on our offline materials.
2. Basic principles
Our journalistic work is based on four principles, consistent with the Standard Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI) :

Accuracy : to publish information that is as accurate, complete and up-to-date as possible.

Independence : to protect our editorial choices from any political, economic, ideological or commercial pressure.

Equity : to treat people and subjects in an honest, contextualized and balanced manner.

Responsability : to own up to our mistakes, correct them visibly and respond to public concerns.
3. Editorial independence and conflicts of interest

No political, economic, religious or activist organization controls the editorial line of Artia13 Actualité.

Advertisers, partners, institutions or donors never intervene in the choice of topics, in the processing of information, or in the formulation of titles.

All contributors must inform the editor of any actual or potential conflict of interest (significant financial, family, professional, or activist ties) that could affect their impartiality. In such cases, editorial work may be reassigned or subjected to enhanced review.
4. Verification of information
Before publication:

Let's cross-check the facts. from several reliable sources when possible;

we quote the statistical sources (public institutions, research bodies, international organizations, etc.) and let's avoid isolated figures out of context;

we clearly indicate when information is uncertain, partial or evolving ;
-
we distinguish the facts of the analyses and opinions.
If an error is found, we will correct the article on the same URL and let's signal the update in a visible way.
5. Sources, anonymity and privacy

Anonymity is granted to a source only when there is a serious risk for his safety, his professional life or his personal situation.

When anonymity is granted, we briefly explain the reason to the reader ("for security reasons", "to protect their job", etc.), unless this information would allow the person to be re-identified.

We respect the right to privacy and let us anonymize non-public individuals when their identification does not contribute to the understanding of the information or could disproportionately harm them.
6. Right of reply, corrections and complaints

8. User-generated comments and content
Comments, testimonials, photos, videos or contributions submitted by the public may be moderated. before or after publication.
The following are refused or removed:

hate speech (racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, etc.);

the glorification of crimes or violence;
-
serious breaches of privacy;

spam and disguised advertising.

9. Use of artificial intelligence (AI)
We can use tools toartificial intelligence (AI) for:

In all cases :

no content is published without human proofreading ;

the facts and figures remain checked by the editorial staff ;

AI should never be used to create false testimonies, false quotes, or misleading content presented as real.
10. Advertising, business partnerships and Google AdSense
Artia13 News is primarily funded by:

of the donations and voluntary contributions to the association.
10.1. Independence from advertising

Advertising spaces (banners, inserts, contextual blocks) are technically managed by Google AdSense or other ad networks.

The announcements are automatically selected through these agencies; the editorial staff does not choose individual advertisers.

The presence of an advertisement never constitutes validation or editorial recommendation by Artia13 News.

No advertiser may demand the modification, deletion or publication of content in exchange for the purchase of advertising space.
10.2. Identification of commercial content

The advertisements are displayed in spaces identified and separated from the body of the articles.

In the case of content containing affiliate links or an explicit commercial dimension, this nature is mentioned to the reader in a clear and understandable way.
11. Personal data, cookies and audience measurement
The collection and processing of personal data comply with the GDPR and French legislation:

This charter applies to all people who contribute to Artia13 Actualité, whether they are volunteers, employees, service providers or guest authors.
